Journoist Civic Campaigns & Petitions Policy

Draft for review — not legally approved. Confirm this document matches actual product behavior and obtain qualified legal review before publication.

Journoist campaigns help users organise civic requests and petitions. They are not automatically verified, endorsed, or legally binding.

1. Campaign purpose

Campaigns should describe a genuine civic, community or public-interest objective and identify the requested action clearly. Avoid misleading titles, fabricated urgency or false claims of official endorsement.

2. Organizer accountability

Provide accurate organizer information as requested by the product. Do not impersonate public officials, institutions, affected families or other organisations.

3. Evidence and claims

Separate documented facts from allegations and opinion. Use reliable sources where possible, avoid defamatory assertions, and redact personal information not necessary to explain the issue.

4. Petition integrity

Do not purchase, automate, forge, duplicate or coerce signatures. Do not misrepresent signature counts or supporter consent. Explain what information signers provide and who can see it.

5. Restricted campaigns

Campaigns promoting violence, discrimination, harassment, unlawful activity, scams, private personal disputes exposing sensitive data, or deceptive fundraising may be rejected or removed. Additional restrictions may apply under law or platform policy.

6. Moderation and discovery

Campaigns may require review before wider distribution. Review or featured status does not guarantee factual accuracy or imply endorsement by Journoist. State review criteria and appeal route in the product.

7. Representation letters

If the platform generates a representation-letter PDF, it is a formatting tool, not legal advice, proof of delivery, official acceptance or confirmation that allegations are true. Users must check recipients, facts and applicable procedures.

8. Safety and legal duties

Organisers are responsible for lawful conduct at offline events and for respecting privacy and safety. Journoist may respond to lawful requests and credible safety reports.
