Journoist Community Guidelines
Draft for review — not legally approved. Confirm this document matches actual product behavior and obtain qualified legal review before publication.
These guidelines describe expected conduct for a platform for reporting, civic discussion and community campaigns.
1. Be accurate and transparent
Distinguish first-hand observations, verified facts, allegations, analysis and opinion. Cite credible sources where possible. Correct material errors promptly and do not fabricate quotes, documents, images or evidence.
2. Respect people and privacy
No threats, targeted harassment, doxxing, stalking, non-consensual intimate content, or unnecessary exposure of personal data. Public-interest reporting does not remove the need to assess privacy, safety and proportionality.
3. No hate or violence
Do not promote violence, dehumanisation, or targeted abuse based on protected characteristics. Calls for imminent violence may be removed and escalated as appropriate.
4. No manipulation
Do not buy or fabricate signatures, impersonate supporters, coordinate deceptive engagement, spam, or create duplicate accounts to distort reach or campaign legitimacy.
5. Respect rights
Do not post material you lack permission to use, violate court orders, or infringe copyright, trademarks or confidentiality obligations.
6. Evidence and allegations
Avoid presenting unverified accusations of criminal conduct as established fact. Provide context, redact unnecessary personal information, preserve provenance and use reporting channels for corrections or disputes.
7. Reporting and enforcement
Users should report content through the available in-app or contact route. Journoist may review, label, limit reach, remove content or suspend accounts. Serious threats and legal complaints may require additional handling.
8. Appeals and consistency
Where operationally feasible, users should be able to request review of significant moderation decisions. Explain the actual appeal channel and response expectations before launch; do not promise a response time that cannot be met.
9. Safety disclaimer
Online participation can expose users to retaliation or unwanted attention. Consider personal safety before publishing identifying details or joining sensitive campaigns.
