Journoist User Verification Policy
Draft for review — not legally approved. Confirm this document matches actual product behavior and obtain qualified legal review before publication.
Verification indicators help users understand account status. They are not a guarantee that every statement is true.
1. Meaning of a badge
A badge may indicate that Journoist has reviewed specified account attributes under published criteria. Define each badge type in the live product; do not imply government endorsement, professional licensing or universal factual accuracy unless verified.
2. Eligibility and evidence
Applicants may be asked for evidence relevant to identity, public role, publication history or organisational affiliation. Collect the minimum information necessary and explain how it is used and retained.
3. Review process
Applications should be assessed consistently against documented criteria. Record decisions and restrict access to supporting documents. Do not promise a processing time unless operationally supported.
4. No guaranteed truth
A verified account can still publish errors or violate policies. Verification is not an endorsement of every post, campaign, view or claim.
5. Revocation and changes
Journoist may remove or change a badge if eligibility changes, information was misleading, the account is compromised, or policy is violated. Provide a review/appeal route where feasible.
6. Impersonation and misuse
Do not buy, sell, forge, or falsely claim a badge, and do not use another person’s documents without authority. Report suspected impersonation through the official contact route.
7. Privacy
Explain whether verification documents are stored, who reviews them, retention periods and deletion procedures. Do not collect identity documents until the security and retention process is ready.
